Happiness  is ... Workshops at the 2018 Portland Miniature Show

Classes for adults were popular at last year's show so we will continue to offer how-to workshops to those who pre-register.  Keep checking back because new workshops will be added to this page.  When you've made your choice, email the instructor directly.

Happiness is Also ... Free Classes for Children!

Grandma Dolly is getting ready!  The first 10 children - ages 6 to 16 - that sign up will have the fun of making and carving their own miniature pumpkin on a miniature newspaper, with a black cat at 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday at the show.

Roughly an hour long.  Parents can stay and observe or help (or use the time to shop without having to monitor the children).

Register at the door when you arrive at the show.

The Rhine, Seine and Danube Rivers of Europe are teaming with market stalls during the holidays.  It is a wonderful way to greet the shopping season and friends too. After making purchases of gift items at each of the stalls, what is more convenient than taking them to be gift wrapped at one of the stalls.

Class participants will wallpaper, paint and finish the interior of the  partially assembled building, add the exterior wood shingle strips, decorations and signs (we are working on adding a unit for processing credit cards in the stall). The unit includes a work table, wrapping paper rolls, boxes for packaging, ribbon rack, a packaging display and even a trash bin to hide the electrical power supply.
The unit sits on its own faux stone base. A bow making device is also included.  Add the included LED lighting and you are in the gift wrapping business on a famous river.

Supplies needed: scissors, tacky glue, wood glue, masking tape, 1/2 inch paint brush, 1 inch foam brush, all other supplies furnished.

Class size: 10

Experience: Intermediate and Advanced

One Hour class

The class will take about an hour. All you need to bring is hot glue gun with glue sticks, white glue, tweezers, toothpicks or the like to move the glue around a little. If you have an embellishment you'd like to use bring it.   The one in the picture is a prototype, as everyone knows no two projects come out just alike.
