How Many Times Can You Say It?

There seems to be a constant need to "communicate with the world".  What's the purpose of a blog on the website of a show that features dollhouse miniatures?  If you've found your way to this blog, you already know everything about the show that you need to know in order to decide if you want to attend, participate, sell at, teach at, or exhibit at.

You had to have heard about the show somewhere else first.  Was it FaceBook?  That confusing place where you talk to strangers who are intimate friends of your children?  That invasive place that asks for your personal contact list and whether you know Joe Blow or not?

Maybe you first heard about the show from Twitter?  Well, it wasn't from anything I put on Twitter.  I don't even know how to tweet.

Did you hear about the show from a friend who overheard someone talking about it in a restaurant?

It doesn't matter to me at all how you heard about it.  Now that you know about it, mark your calendar and plan to be there.  Notice that the actual show is Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14, 2014 but there are classes being offered before and after the show dates.  Instructors are standing by.  Email them now

Portland Will Be a Success!

I feel it in my bones!  Four dealers have signed on in the last two days and at this point three of them are new to Salem -- although I met two of them at the Seattle show 4 weeks ago.

George Wrisley has agreed to teach a workshop that is really interesting.  It is an electrified curio cabinet with glass shelves and glass doors.  An item that can be found in a LOT of settings.  Take a look and see for yourself.

I hope that today's mail is a sign of good things to come.  I received the first registration for an exhibit and it came from George Wrisley.  An electrified Victorian Bedroom.  Come on everyone!  There's nothing wrong with being No. 2.

Patsy Thomas of Miniature Porcelain Dolls by Patsy Thomas was the first dealer to sign on (after Karla & Don Smith from D&K Enterprises.)  Patsy couldn't have been any faster though because Karla & Don have an "in" with me since they are the folks I bought the show from in 2007.

Welcome aboard, Patsy, and thanks for calling me about the registration form and it's foibles.  (that's a big word for "problems").

The invitation went out about 4:00 p.m. West Coast time and within 2 hours I was contacted by someone who wants to teach a class.  An hour later a second dealer said she was ready.  You do realize, I think, that this is my first experience with having workshops at a show.  It is exciting, isn't it?

What class would you hope would be offered?

I've Come a Long Way. How Far Will You Go?

When I was young I worked as a temporary secretary for an engineering firm.  On the wall was a photo of a nerd with a pocket protector and glasses taped together on the bridge of his nose.  The caption said "onest I couldn't even spell ungineer and now I are one."

Well, now I'm a lot older and can say "onest I'd never heard of a blogger and now I are one".  I can't believe it.

What's a blogger to do?  Talk and hope someone is listening, I guess.  This is my first experience at blogging but it isn't my first experience producing a miniature show.  This is year 6 and show 7.  It's not my first website either.

I hope you'll all come to the Portland Miniature Show September 14 & 15, 2013 and make all the effort of putting on the show worthwhile.  Even more so, make the effort put out by the dealers worthwhile.

Question:  What is the farthest you would travel to attend a miniature show?
